Bravo Zulu, Toronto

HMCS Toronto, a Canadian multi-role frigate assigned to Standing NATO Maritime Group 1, was opportunely positioned to carry out a rescue of some of the occupants of a volcanic island in the Red Sea which erupted yesterday.
A Canadian navy ship rescued a Yemeni soldier and recovered the bodies of two others Monday following a volcanic eruption on a small island in the Red Sea.

HMCS Toronto was part of a NATO fleet sailing north of the Suez Canal when the Yemeni government asked them to assist in the search for eight soldiers believed at sea after the volcano hit the Jabal al-Tair island.

The volcano, Jabal al-Tair, has been inactive since 1883.
